Healthy sandwich workshop – this is the event we celebrated today on the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Its aim is to promote the creation of safe, healthy and decent working conditions worldwide. On the initiative of the International Labour Organization, it is commemorated on April 28.

"Safety and health are not just checkmarks for us. We employ almost 400 employees, some of them with spicy or extremely hot equipment, and bread from our bakeries travels to the table of almost every Lithuanian family – so there should not be too much attention to safety and health here. It is nice that the employees themselves are actively proposing ideas on what can be improved for the sake of safety and health," said Neringa Melnikavičienė, a specialist responsible for occupational safety and health, and a member of the company's safety and health committee.

How did we mark this day?

🌿While having breakfast or lunch in the company's kitchens, colleagues could learn more about the "Keyhole" symbol and the benefits of products marked with it for human health. 🌿We made and tasted various health-friendly sandwiches 🥪 – Kristina Pišniukaitė Šimkienė, a long-time partner of UAB "Vilniaus duona", #AntMedinesLentelės helped us with their recipes. 🌿We tasted a healthy drink – birch sap with various condiments 🌿We conduct a survey of employees at the level of the whole group and invite them to express their opinion about the safety and health of employees in our organization. 🌿We also invite colleagues to submit their suggestions for improving this area. The selected best offers will be awarded on a scale of the entire Lantmännen Unibake Group.

This initiative will take place later this week in Vilnius and Panevėžys bakeries.

We have been celebrating this day in the entire Lantmännen Unibake group of companies for several years in a row. You can read about last year's initiative HERE.
