The bakery baked 378,311 puds (1 pud – 16.38 kg) of bread. A decade later, the Vilnius Military Bakery was officially obliged to supply products at lower prices to the poorest citizens and residents of the suburbs of Vilnius.

The Vilnius Bread Combine was established, which owned the aforementioned bakery and another bakery, as well as 15 small bakeries. The bakeries were non-mechanized, fired mainly with wood. Several types of bread, baguettes, and bagels were baked in them. Until 1947, many works were done by hand.

The ovens of the old bakery were replaced with new ones, the capacity of the bakery doubled – the period of industrial production began. A decade later, "Vilnius" bread began to be baked, the recipe of which has not been changed to this day.

In Vilnius, the construction of a new bakery "Vilniaus Duona" (5th bakery) was completed and launched on V. A. Graičiūno Street. It was equipped with six mechanized bread and baguette baking lines with tunnel ovens.

1978-1989 Reconstruction of bakeries, during which mechanical workshops were built, more modern equipment was installed, which further improved production and its quality.

The Vilnius Bread Industry Production Association (it owned all the bakeries in Vilnius) was re-registered into the state-owned enterprise Vilniaus Duona. This name has survived to this day. In the last decade of the twentieth century, Vilniaus Duona products spread to other regions and became the bread of the whole of Lithuania.

The company has joined the ranks of the VAASAN Group, the leader in the Nordic and Baltic bread market.

In 2004-2008, Vilniaus Duona successfully implemented a major restructuring project, during which a modern, efficient production of rye and wheat bread was created. During the restructuring, a new bakery in Vilnius was built and launched, the bakery in Panevėžys was modernized, and 3 old inefficient bakeries in the center of Vilnius were closed. The restructuring of production and logistics created the conditions for further successful development of the company and the production of new modern bakery products.

In 2015, Vilniaus Duona became part of Lantmännen, one of the largest groups of companies in Northern Europe, operating in the agricultural, machinery, energy and food industries.

In 2021, we substantially renovated the Panevėžys bakery: new, more efficient lines have been built (for example, we used to bake 2200 loaves per hour in one of them, and now – 3 thousand loaves/hour), and defects are decreasing in them. In Panevėžys, a new wheat bread line has also been introduced with a new technology for baking wheat bread. This will allow us to offer baked goods with a different look and shape.
