For many of the bakery managers of our group, this visit was the first opportunity to see not only the bakeries of Vilnius and Panevėžys, but also Lithuania.

The group's bakeries operate in 13 countries and their bakery managers meet twice a year in different countries to discuss current affairs and share good practices.

Colleagues and more than 20 bakeries arrived

"It was fun to become the hosts of the event and welcome colleagues from more than 20 bakeries to the conference: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the USA, Estonia and other countries. For most of them, it was not only the first acquaintance with our modern bakeries, but also the first glimpse of Lithuania," says Dalia Zdanovičienė, the head of the Vilnius bakery at Vilniaus Duona.

According to her, such international conferences of colleagues are invaluable because of the sharing of experience and good practices.

others – frozen baked goods for shops, cafes or homes. The sizes, capacities, and level of automation of bakeries differ. But the issues and concerns are similar everywhere: the search for employees, the modernization of equipment, and the provision of demand. Discussing how you solve one or another problem, sharing future plans, touring "live" production is probably the most valuable part of these visits," says Dalia.

The theme of this conference is SIM

Every bakery managers' conference has a key theme. This time the focus is on SIM. Short Interval Management (part of the Lean system) helps you feel the pulse of the team and quickly solve questions and problems that arise.

Recently, we have introduced digital SIM boards, which help to organize such SIM discussions more smoothly and efficiently and have improved visualization in production. They help to quickly identify points where prompt solutions are needed and involve colleagues involved in solving the problem. We were one of the first in the group to install this tool, so we shared a relatively new experience with our colleagues.

Presented the history of the country and the origins of Vilniaus Duona

During the conference, we presented not only the origins of Vilniaus Duona, one of the oldest bakeries in the group, but also the history of Lithuania.

"Colleagues were also surprised by the uniqueness of our language, the beauty of the country, and the culture. After dinner at the Michelin Guide, recommended by the 14 Horses restaurant, we were also impressed by the culinary level of our country. I believe that many colleagues will return to our country as tourists, because during two free evenings they were able to see only a small crumb of Lithuania," said Dalia.

The cleanliness of the bakeries and smiling colleagues stuck the most

For colleagues from other countries, the cleanliness of our bakeries, tidy equipment, clear processes, work organization and smiling employees stuck the most.

"It is very motivating that the newcomers notice it, because our team is really great. Together with the head of the Panevėžys bakery, Marius Juška, we also passed on feedback to our colleagues, because this is the merit of the whole team," emphasized the head of the Vilnius bakery.

Marius Juška and Dalia Zdanovičienė would like to thank HR specialist Jurga Staniukėnienė for their help in organizing this conference.
