Beata Nicholson visited our bakery in Panevėžys: "This is a magical place and aromatherapy"
Beata Nicholson together with her sister Odeta Bložienė visited the bakery "Vilniaus Duona" in Panevėžys, where she bakes such breads as "Beata virtuvė" black bread with seeds and rye whole-grain yeast-free bread, as well as "Grandmother's" and others. The impressions are as good as possible. Beata called the bakery a magical place, and the smell of rye bread was called a real aromatherapy.
Beata and her sister carefully inspected the entire bakery, curiously asked what was happening and how. The tour was excellently led by Vilniaus Duona's Product Development Manager Snieguolė Šoblinskienė, and organizational matters were taken care of by our Brand and Communication Manager Jolita Ažusienė. Beata was happy to take pictures with her colleagues, and we gave her a long loaf of bread as a gift. Weighs like an adult baby – 5 kg!
In the meantime, we were treated to delicious vanilla ice cream with Madagascar vanilla created by Odeta Bložienė, which went deliciously with bread, and our bread sommelier Snieguolė immediately advised us how to make bread ice cream (she wouldn't be a food technologist!).
Beata called rye bread our essence
Here are the thoughts Beata shared on her account after her visit to our bakery:
"Bread loaves to work with!! Wow, where I was yesterday!
Such a beautiful one – BLACK BREAD WITH SEEDS – fell into my hands. I'm picking it up... and there's definitely something to keep! 5kg!!
Yesterday I was in Panevėžys – such a magical place, where only aromatherapy: cumin and the smell of fresh rye bread...
The loaves are fluffy, the stoves are filled, everything is done by hand, and there is so much warmth that Snow White is the chief teacher. technologist from Vilnius bread, rye bread connoisseur (and mother!) – she told so many interesting things and remembered how the Germans told her:
"This bakery in Panevėžys needs to be fenced off with a fence and toured! There is almost no more manual work left in Europe."
And here they are. Because rye bread is our essence. And we will not live without cumin!
Such a connection between us that even Scandinavians and Germans, although they love rye bread, still don't understand how you can fall in love with cumin.
By the way, did you know that the process of baking rye bread in Vilnius Duona Panevėžys bakery takes almost a DAY?
And it never stops – it doesn't matter on Christmas Eve or Easter – the leaven is alive, the bread is alive, everything must continue.
Loaves are pierced by hand, taken out of the oven by hand.
And even cooled in a special room, where... there is a rack with the inscription BEATA!
Yes, because my bread is baked there, and in the bakery she is simply called Beata. Just like that.
Beata: "I could refuse white, but rye with cumin – never"
In the bakery, Beata also tasted Grandma's bread, baked here in huge, 5 kg loaves.
Here are her impressions:
"And then there are those legendary loaves of GRANDMOTHER's bread – huge, proud. Baked without compromise. The edges (those wonderful crusts) are cut off and given to the farmers – not in the packages.
And Odeta and I tasted – I don't know if I've ever eaten more delicious bread in my life...
And some people say – "oh, how expensive that bread is"...
When the price is lower than a cup of coffee, what about the process? It's just love time and handiwork.
Try to jump around leaven and loaf yourself one day – home bakers know: it's not just a craft, it's an art.
That's it – I'm already ready for Easter with bread!
And I am extremely happy that in our Lithuania real rye bread from Lithuanian rye is still baked, and it is baked by people who really bake with love.
And you know – I was. I've seen it. I tasted it. I checked.
So what is your favorite rye bread??? Maybe I could give up white but rye with cumin?? NEVER!
Vilnius bread. Bread from all over Lithuania , thank you for the tour – stories and bread!"
