At the Vilnius bakery, high school students were interested in future career opportunities
This week, high school students visited our Vilnius bakery looking for knowledge about what profession to choose in a few years. They participated in the Lithuanian Junior Achievement career program Šešėliavimas.lt. This program gives students the opportunity to communicate with specialists from various fields and see what the organizations and jobs they are interested in look like
We received ten guests from Vilnius district. Pagiriai gymnasium students. They were accompanied by an enthusiastic geography and career planning teacher Nijolė Šerpytienė. We had a meaningful half-day, during which the students learned:
– what is Vilnius Bread and our Lantmännen group (Rasa Pustovalova) – how many professions contribute to the emergence of bread and what talents are needed here (also told by Rasa) – what path does bread take until it reaches our table and what our Vilnius bakery holdings look like (Alina Zibalienė and intern Aurimas Jurevičius) – how to choose bread in the store, how to read labels, what bread she chooses herself and how to regain her sense of smell after Covid (Snieguole Soblinskienė) – how bread is tested – sensory evaluation, employing the senses: image, smell, taste, touch (Viktorija Legaudaitė-Lydekaitienė).
And, of course, what about without delicious gifts – fiber-rich bread "Toste", soft Christmas Eve or "Grandmother" bread.
"Is it possible to take a repeat excursion of students with other teachers?" the teacher wrote after the meeting.
This is the best assessment for us.
Thank you to the initiators of Lithuanian Junior Achievement, the visiting students and the colleagues who welcomed them.
