Vilniaus Duona is investing EUR 3.2 million. to the project of harmonization of business management systems. More than 300 different business processes – from financial management, efficiency, production planning, waste control to accounting – will be combined into one system. The main goal is to fully integrate it into the platform of the Lantmännen Unibake group and to implement best practice standards.

Largest project

"This is a grandiose project, unmatched in scope by any other project we have carried out. The cornerstone processes of our bakeries – from planning, production, to sales and accounting – will be in one common system and it will be coordinated at the level of the entire group," said Artūras Kokoškinas, CEO of Vilniaus Duona.

Bread supplies 40 percent of the country's market

The project aims to make the company's processes more efficient and save money and better serve its customers.

"Almost 40 percent of bread baked goods end up on the Lithuanian table thanks to our bakeries in Vilnius and Panevėžys. It is both an achievement and a great responsibility. By using the new system, we will work more purposefully and efficiently, and we will be able to continue to be at the forefront of change," said A. Kokoškinas.

Better planned production

While the focus is on technological upgrades, an essential part of these changes is the implementation of international best practices and harmonious processes across the group.

"This is an important step towards further strengthening operational efficiency and ensuring long-term growth. The new business management platform increases data accuracy and allows for better forecasting of production needs. This helps you plan production more efficiently, reduce waste, and improve supply chain management. For our customers, this will mean the right range of bakery products at the time when they need it," said the head of the company.

Regularly invests in activities

Vilniaus Duona has already made other important investments in the past: this year, the premises of the company's office in Panevėžys have been modernized. A heat return project has also been implemented in the Panevėžys bakery, where the energy generated during the production of bread, previously passed through the chimneys by the winds, is converted into heating. This protects the environment from 240 tons of carbon dioxide per year and saves costs. A similar project is planned in the Vilnius bakery.

Last year, the company implemented an energy management project that accurately records the consumption of water, gas, electricity, and steam at more than 60 points of the Vilnius bakery. The entire Lantmännen Group aims to reduce energy consumption every year at every step and use resources responsibly to achieve zero CO2 in production by 2050.

Since 2017, Vilniaus Duona has also been regularly investing in a leadership training program for all colleagues, regardless of their position in the company.
