Olga, how did you get into Vilnius bread?
I served in the army, almost 20 years, I retired to the reserve. And I was looking for a job. Since I myself graduated and worked in the field of food production, I was looking for a similar job. At that moment, Vilniaus Duona was looking for a production shift manager. That's how I ended up here.
I came, I liked it, I felt at home. They received it very warmly. I liked the premises, I liked the production itself. I've been here for more than three years now.
So you're like an officer?
Yes. In the army, I also served in the food department, everything is connected, just in addition we were also infantrymen.
Can you bake bread and defend your homeland?
yes, let's defend ourselves! If they attack. (Smiles).
What is bread for you?
It is a food product that provides energy to a person.
And what is your favorite?
All the breads are delicious, but I like the Lithuanian one the most, light. It is bright and so reflective of the taste of Lithuanians.
Is it true that you can't go to bread in a sour mood?
I would say you can't. It is the production process that feels it.
You are a production shift manager, you have been working for more than three years. And what are you responsible for?
The production shift manager is responsible for coordinating and organizing the work shift. For the execution of production plans. For the cleanliness of the production premises. And we pay great attention to the training and development of employees.
When is a good day at work?
There are no bad days, it depends on how you come in your mood. If you like the job, then it will be good.
What things do you have to deal with on a daily basis?
Organization of subordinate work and employees, solution of problems. We have to follow the production plan, we have to go along with the times, without delays, if we are behind – there must be reasons, then we solve them. That bread is so daily that everything is timely, that quality and safety are ensured and that it is delivered on time to consumers.
Is it up to you to find bread on the shelf in the store?
Yes, we are doing everything we can to make it so.
What did you remember from your three-year journey?
In fact, it passed very quickly, I didn't even notice it myself. There were a lot of interesting things, there were places to learn and I don't shy away from continuing to study and I am currently studying food production technology at Vilnius University of Applied Sciences. Technology is advancing, we must move forward.
What would you say to young people, what is interesting and meaningful about working in a bakery?
First of all, it is very interesting, very useful, we do a good job, we produce bread, we supply not only Lithuania, but also other countries with our products. And it is a good source of energy, without which a person cannot do without for the time being.
What kind of person would fit in a bakery?
First of all, it is important not to be afraid and to come. Everyone will support and help. The second thing is to have a goal and of course, to be a leader, to want to win.
As a collective?
Well, our team has really good communication skills. We are not afraid to say something, even if the question is perhaps uncomfortable. We know how to accept criticism, we understand it. We learn from each other, we help each other, so that environment becomes so very pleasant for her.
