Jurgita Marmakevičienė, who works at a bakery in Panevėžys, came to the bakery raising a small child. She was looking for a shift job so that she could spend more time with her three-year-old child during the days. The children grew up, and Jurgita stayed and has been working in the bakery for 8 years.

This year, Jurgita was awarded as an ambassador of our Value of Inclusive Approach. For excellent cooperation with colleagues to achieve a common goal. We talked about her work at Vilniaus Duona.

Jurgita, how did you start working at Vilniaus Duona?

I came here when I was a little kid. I was looking for a job so that I could be with my child more during the days. This shift job suited me perfectly. That's how I stayed. I work three days, I have three days off.

What do family and children know about your work?

Imagine that I bake bread!

And what are you really responsible for in the Panevėžys bakery?

I work as a assembler in the expedition department. I have to make sure that our customers receive the right orders. I am such a final point before the bread goes to customers: to supermarkets and shops.

We are open from 6 pm to 6 am. What the bakery bakes, we complete at night and in the morning so that in the morning customers receive the freshest bread possible.

How many do you work on?

There are about 9 people in the shift. We work as a team, we help each other, if we need to quickly transport the farthest order, then we first assemble it all together.

Add portioned bread, groceries, baguettes and bread.

The same people on my night shift, so we have done a good job.

What qualities do you need for such work?

You have to be attentive, you need to be cautious, attentive. Because we assemble orders from about 100 different choices, you need to remember what packaging looks like so as not to get confused. Some of the packaging also goes to foreign markets, they are different again.

Do you really want to sleep on the night shift?

I like this schedule. I like work and pace, so you never take a nap: you need to quickly and expeditiously arrange orders. Everything is arranged according to time. You have to count, watch the time, look at the packages. You have to complete in time to deliver the order to the customers in order to get the store on time. Nobody wants empty bread shelves.

It is important that what was ordered is included and the exact quantities, the specific product. And those options are endless, because our menu from which you choose to order is more than a hundred baked goods.

When there are so many choices, mistakes can probably happen. How are mistakes viewed?

Normally, we discuss, contact the client, correct and look at how to prevent this from happening in the future.

You make sure that customers receive the bread they ordered from their store. And which one do you choose?

My favorite black Agotos.
