UAB "Vilniaus duona" is implementing the project "Installation of heat recovery equipment and reduction of air pollution at UAB "Vilniaus duona" No. LAAIF-AM-TECH02-0003, funded under the 2022–2030 development program manager, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, Environmental and Climate Change Management Development Program progress measure No. 02-001-06-11-01 "Strengthening the prevention and management of negative environmental impacts," under the subactivity "Implementation of technological equipment and measures to reduce pollutants emitted into the ambient air during economic activities." The program funds will be used to install thermal energy recovery equipment.

The project is administered by the Environmental Project Management Agency of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania. The total project value is 178,900 EUR, of which 125,230 EUR is funded by the State of the Republic of Lithuania.

As part of the project, "Vilniaus duona" will install heat recovery equipment that will allow the thermal energy generated in production processes to be used for technological processes and space heating. This will reduce the amount of natural gas consumed for these purposes and the emissions associated with it.

According to the project's calculations, after implementing the system, CO₂ emissions should be reduced by about 240 tons per year.
